LUCY RICHARDS

Music Therapist & Community Mental Health Worker

Lucy Richards is a Registered Music Therapist and community mental health worker with 20 years’ experience (minus some years off to have children) working across the life span in aged care, mental health, disability and early childhood settings. As part of her advanced training in GIM (Guided Imagery and Music) she is seeking participants to be practice clients. All GIM sessions offered by Lucy will be free for 2023.

Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) is an evidence based, person-centred creative therapy which involves an initial conversation with the therapist, intentional listening to classical music in a relaxed state, and an opportunity to process the experience visually in mandala form. The therapist acts as a guide while the client travels on a personal journey elicited and supported by the music. Through imagery evoked by specially designed and chosen music programs, GIM can stimulate emotions and memories offering clients opportunities for inner reflection, greater personal insight, self-compassion and potentially improved mental health and resilience.
